Your Personal Year
Nature works in cycles and seasons. Spring calls for new beginnings and creativity, summer for socializing and expansion, autumn for integration and harvest, and winter for rest and introspection. Our personal energy and evolution also work in cycles, with each year having a different flavor and vibration. According to Numerology, we all have a personal year number that reflects the cycle we are currently in. Understanding the natural energetic frequency that underlies our life can be an immense support to lean into and work with.
My own deep transformations have all happened in 9 years. This has been the periods where I’ve shedded and realised to make space for something new. Unearth was birthed in a 1 year.
Learning to work with the energetics and flow of life instead of against them can bring us into deeper alignment and create more ease on our path, supporting us in surrendering to life’s currents.
Calculate your current cycle
You can calculate your personal year number using AstroSeek or other online tools, or by following this formula:
I. Add up the digits of your birthday and the current year.
If your birthday is January 15 and the current year is 2020, the digits would be: 1, 1, 1, 5, 2, 0, 2, 0.
The total of these digits would be 11: 1 + 1 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 11.
II. Add the digits together until you get a single-digit number.
11 consists of two digits (1 and 1), so the final total would be 2: 1 + 1 = 2.
You would be in Year 2 of your personal year cycle.
Personal Year Meanings
Year 1
A Year of Seeds & Beginnings
This is the year the universe whispers, Begin. It’s your time to plant new ideas, take bold steps, and trust that what you start now will grow with the right nourishment. Don’t wait for perfect conditions — sprout where you stand. The past is done, and the future is yours to shape. Trust the fire in your belly and the nudges of your soul. Plant the seeds for your future, your dreams are waiting for you to take the first step towards them.
Year 2
A Year of Nurture & Harmony
You’ve planted the seeds — now let them take root. Growth isn’t always visible at first, but deep beneath the surface, things are brewing. This is a year for refining, building connections, and letting things unfold naturally. Nurture your connections, water your dreams with care, and trust the unseen. Things bloom in their own time, trust divine timing and your patience will be rewarded.
Year 3
A Year of Blossoming & Expression
The buds are breaking open, color spilling into the world — this is your time to flourish. Speak, create, and stretch toward the sun. Just like a field of wildflowers, you are meant to stand out, to sway freely and to bring beauty into the world. Say yes to what excites you, and let your petals bloom. You were never meant to stay silent, nor to hide in the shadows. This is a year to put yourself out there. Speak up, share your ideas, and embrace your unique expression.
Year 4
A Year of Roots & Foundations
Strong trees don’t grow overnight. This is a year of hands in the soil, anchoring deeper within and growing stronger roots. Do not fear the labor; each brick you lay shapes the garden of your future. Dig deep, stand tall, and know that when the storms pass, your roots will hold. This is a time to reinforce what matters long term — your work, your health and your stability.
Year 5
A Year of Flow & Adventure
The river doesn’t resist, but bends in its path. This year, be like water and flow with change. Detours are natural and bring new opportunities and unexpected surprises. Move with the energy, not against it. Wherever the current takes you, it’s leading you forward. This is your year to roam, to shed the weight of yesterday and dance with the unknown. Trust in your own solidity and allow for the current to take you new places.
Year 6
A Year of Nourishment & Balance
The tree that shelters others must also take in sunlight. This year asks you to care for the people around you — family, friends, and most importantly yourself. Strengthen your roots and provide nourishment, but don’t forget to water yourself in the process. A well-tended plant can share nutrients more generously.
Year 7
A Year of Regeneration & Reflection
This is the year to go into the forrest and rest in quiet solitude. Don’t fear the darkness, for this is where the wisdom of your intuition whispers. This is your year to pause, listen, and regenrate. Not all growth is visible — the most important changes happen beneath the surface. Spend time in reflection, let your mind expand, and trust that stillness is just as powerful as motion. Do not rush — there is magic in the waiting and power in the pause.
Year 8
A Year of Harvest & Achievement
The harvest is here. This is the year to gather what you’ve worked for, to stand tall and claim your space. Push forward with confidence, make bold decisions, and trust in the roots you’ve grown. Own your power and watch as the stars bow to your command. The fruits of your labor are ripening — now is the season to reach for them.
Year 9
A Year of Shedding & Release
The leaves are falling, the cycle is shifting, and it’s time to let go. Do not fear the endings, for they are only doorways to something new. Use this year to clear space for new opportunities. Reflect on what you’ve learned and let go of what no longer feels aligned. Not everything is meant to stay, and that’s okay. Release the old knowing that endings make space for new beginnings. Trust the cycle – the next season is already on its way.
